SANTO DOMINGO. The Third Chamber of the Penal Chamber of the Court of Appeals for the National District annulled the bail bond and restored the order for remand to custody against Jimmy Oliver Rodriguez Ortiz, accused of trafficking a 50 kilo stash of cocaine on 15 September.

The tribunal headed by Judge Ignacio Camacho accepted the appeal filed by the Prosecutor's office against the decision of the interim judge of the Third Court of Instruction, Franny Manuel Gonzalez.

Rodriguez Ortiz was favored by a release order by means of a writ of habeas corpus that he filed after the decision after accusing the District Attorney of contempt of court.

The release on bail bond was executed, but last night the Prosecutor's office re-arrested the accused as he left the Palace of Justice in Ciudad Nueva. The Prosecutor and the District Attorney requested the Supreme Court to investigate the magistrate.

In another case, the Court of Appeals will hear next Friday the appeal for a bail bond that was granted by Judge Rosanna Vasquez to Sobeida Feliz Morel, implicated in the case of the fugitive from Puerto Rico, Jose D. Figuereo Agosto.
